Sophia Huntley Smith – New Mexico

Sophia Huntley Smith is an avid fly fisher, hunter, and artist who is eager to work hard to protect wild and public lands. She learned to fly fish in the Sierra Nevadas for small mountain stream trout, which sparked her curiosity about the relationship humans have stewarding the natural world. Hunting is an extension of this passion, stemming from her family’s history duck hunting in California to learning how to hunt turkey and upland game in college. She has an academic background in environmental studies and professional experience in global policy. She is eager to inspire other women in the sporting field, while advocating for policies to conserve lands and waters.
