Nature Writing Workshop Session 1-Lost in the Woods

September 3

$10

Author and Artemis Ambassador Deborah Lee Luskin is offering a Nature Writing Workshop, where participants will gain skills, learn craft, and develop confidence. We will use our experiences in nature as inspiration for stories and self-discovery. Each of the four ninety-minute sessions will focus on a different element of craft, followed by a prompt and timed freewriting, a technique that encourages writing faster than the inner critic can be heard. The only instruction is to keep your pen moving. We will hold space for those who wish to read this new work aloud.

This workshop is open to writers of all abilities and all genres: fiction, memoir, and non-fiction. While the emphasis is on prose, poetry is welcome.

This four-part series will take place on the Thursdays in September: 3, 10, 17, 24. Classes will meet by Zoom from 7 – 8:30 pm Eastern. While the sessions will each stand alone and can be taken separately, they will also build upon one another, so that the entire series is greater than its parts.

9/3 Memory and Metaphor – Lost in the Woods
9/10 Audience and Voice – What the Crow Says
9/17 Words and Sentences – Where the Stream Runs
9/24 Structure and Storytelling – As the Seasons Turn
