SUMMARY:Montana Turkey Camp
DESCRIPTION:This is an opportunity for women hunters to come together for a weekend of hunting turkeys\, cooking wild game\, learning about conservation work throughout the west and sharing stories around the campfire. We will take this opportunity to talk about voluntarily using lead-free ammunition and how important it is to our own health and that of our wildlife and habitat. \nOver the course of the weekend there will be at least 20 hours of in-the-field training. Mentors will be actively hunting but\, will assist emergent hunters on how to find\, call\, and hunt wild turkeys. This weekend is not a guided trip. There are NO guarantees. \nWe are excited to learn from and mentor each other in the field and around the campfire. However\, you are expected to bring your own gear (shotgun and non-lead ammo available for rental/purchase)\, participate in meal prep\, and determine your own hunting priorities.

SUMMARY:Georgia Fisheries Technician for a Day
DESCRIPTION:The ladies of Artemis GA and Georgia Becoming an Outdoors Woman will be joining forces to help McDuffie Hatchery with producing catfish eggs and fry to help meet the quota for the state hatchery system. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside the Fishery Technicians of McDuffie Warm Water Fish Hatchery for a day of sexing catfish\, pairing males and females\, checking for eggs\, and taking care of catfish fry. \nLocated in McDuffie County\, this warmwater hatchery raises multiple fish species. In May\, the hatchery will be focused on channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) and striped bass (Morone saxatilis\, or “striper”) production for stocking in public waters. Some channel cats are grown to catchable size for kids fishing events and stocking PFAs. McDuffie County is in the central region of Georgia and part of Georgia’s upper coastal plain. \nParticipants will also have access to McDuffie PFA\, which offers anglers 7 ponds ranging in size from 5 to 37 acres. Fishing ponds are stocked with Largemouth Bass\, Bluegill\, Channel Catfish\, and Redear Sunfish. \nOptional camping is available on the McDuffie property. There are hotels in nearby Thomson\, Harlem\, and Wrens. Participants are welcome to hang out for a day or two and enjoy the many amenities offered by McDuffie PFA and the McDuffie Environmental Education Center. Bring along your kayak for some kayak fishing Wednesday evening\, or fish from the bank or one of the fishing docks at the different public fishing ponds. \nThis is a work day\, not a spectator event. We are going to get dirty! Due to the muddy/boggy areas we will be working in\, every participant must bring their own pair of waders to wear. \nAdditionally\, this event carries some physical requirements. Participants must be able to lift 30 pounds and be able to walk/hike 1-2 miles across uneven terrain. We will be handling live fish in a potentially hazardous setting of thick mud and bogs that may be difficult to maneuver. As such\, the ability to understand and follow verbal and nonverbal instructions related to physical activities is a must. \nIf you have any known allergies please come prepared. \nFor property access\, one of the following passes is required: A Georgia Fishing License or Land Use Pass. A fishing license is required to fish. Certified Range Safety Officers will be present to make sure everyone knows range etiquette and has a safe and fun time. \nWe’ll provide one box per person of 12 or 20-gauge ammunition\, water\, soda\, and light snacks. North Bristol Sportsmans’ Club will provide safety glasses (to borrow) and foam ear protection (yours to keep). Extra ammunition and dinner will be available for purchase at the clubhouse. SUMMARY:Wisconsin Ladies Wingshooting Nights
DESCRIPTION:Calling all experienced and aspiring Lady Shotgunners! Join Artemis\, Pheasants Forever\, and the Wisconsin DNR at North Bristol Sportsmans’ Club for a couple casual evenings of trap and skeet on Thursday\, July 27 and Thursday\, August 24\, both from 4 pm – 8 pm. \nAll skill levels are welcome – we’ll have a few loaner shotguns on hand if you need to borrow\, and we’ll be shooting alongside a couple Scholastic Clay Target Program coaches who are happy to offer tips and tricks. Certified Range Safety Officers will be present to make sure everyone knows range etiquette and has a safe and fun time. Youth are welcome as well! \nWe’ll provide at least one box per person of 12 or 20-gauge ammunition\, water\, soda\, and light snacks. North Bristol Sportsmans’ Club will provide safety glasses (to borrow) and foam ear protection (yours to keep). Extra ammunition and pub style food and drink are available for purchase at the clubhouse. Come and go as you please\, we just want to see you there!

This event is a precursor to a upland game hunt in October. Join us for the kickoff to a learn to hunt upland event series. Join us on September 9th for the kickoff then weekly for virtual learn to hunt upland demonstrations. Finally\, join Artemis for an all women’s upland game hunt on October 7th! Don’t want to hunt or carry a gun\, no problem! join us for a walk in the field with other hunters to get comfortable in the environment. \nRegarding the kickoff:\nWe’re hosting a free\, all-inclusive workshop for those that want to learn more about hunting\, wild food\, and the conservation community. Let us help you get safely outdoors. You’ll find community\, connect to conservation\, and learn about opportunities to harvest your own wild food. This is your invitation to join us in camp for an afternoon of storytelling and screening of the new film series How To Hunt Upland Birds. Durrell Smith and Keng Yang who are both featured in the film will share their personal stories of what it’s like to be a person of color entering the world of hunting for the first time. \nWe’ll also be joined by Lachelle Cunningham and Cecka Parks. Lachelle is a Twin Cities chef and Cecka is the founder of the Minneapolis Meat Collective. They will demonstrate how to break down a bird and cook a wild game meal.
