SUMMARY:Nature Writing Workshop Session 4:As the Seasons Turn
DESCRIPTION:Author and Artemis Ambassador Deborah Lee Luskin is offering a Nature Writing Workshop\, where participants will gain skills\, learn craft\, and develop confidence. We will use our experiences in nature as inspiration for stories and self-discovery. Each of the four ninety-minute sessions will focus on a different element of craft\, followed by a prompt and timed freewriting\, a technique that encourages writing faster than the inner critic can be heard. The only instruction is to keep your pen moving. We will hold space for those who wish to read this new work aloud. \nThis workshop is open to writers of all abilities and all genres: fiction\, memoir\, and non-fiction. While the emphasis is on prose\, poetry is welcome. \nThis four-part series will take place on the Thursdays in September: 3\, 10\, 17\, 24. Classes will meet by Zoom from 7 – 8:30 pm Eastern. While the sessions will each stand alone and can be taken separately\, they will also build upon one another\, so that the entire series is greater than its parts. \n9/3 Memory and Metaphor – Lost in the Woods\n9/10 Audience and Voice – What the Crow Says\n9/17 Words and Sentences – Where the Stream Runs\n9/24 Structure and Storytelling – As the Seasons Turn \nDeborah Lee Luskin has been teaching writing and literature-based humanities since 1980. She has taught gifted elementary students\, parenting teens\, new adult readers\, college students\, and life-long learners. Deborah delivered programming for the Vermont Humanities Council for thirty-eight years. She continues to facilitate the Rosefire Writing Circle\, established in 2016\, where participants write in community with support\, and to deliver custom writing circles upon request. Her memoir\, Reviving Artemis: The Making of a Huntress\, tells the story of reclaiming the woods for women of all ages by becoming a deer hunter at sixty. She is now an Artemis Ambassador for the National Wildlife Federation\, advocating for the conservation of public lands and promoting women in the outdoors. This program is sponsored by Artemis Ambassadors. Learn more at www.deborahleeluskin.com \nEach class will be capped at 25 participants so claim your spot now! Please register for each class you will attend. A suggested $10 donation to Artemis is recommended by not required.
