Hunting while pregnant is… totally awesome! No, really. This week on the show we’re joined by two Artemis ambassadors who are both growing tiny humans while still enjoying time spent in the hunt field. Emily Ledergerber and Kyla West share their experiences, tips and tricks, and what they’ve learned.

  • 1:30 – Hunting while pregnant… this topic is totally overdue for discussion (Har har, see what we did there? #punforthewin)
  • 4:30 – Timing your due date so it (hopefully) doesn’t overlap with hunting season
  • 8:00 – Pack-raft turkey hunting, baby!
  • 10:00 – The daughter of a bowyer, Emily grew up shooting bows, but she didn’t become a bowhunter until her 30s — it was a fortuitous family hobby!

  • 13:00 – Pace yourself. You’re tired, moving slower, maybe even feeling sick… take it easy out there.

  • 16:00 – …STAY HYDRATED. You need more water when you’re pregnant. 
  • 18:30 – Packing all the snacks and all the water is good practice for parenthood, too
  • 19:30 – Maternity hunting clothes… uhh, nope. But we have some tricks!
  • 22:00 – What if we bought a couple sets of maternity hunting gear and made it like a lending library for our friends having babies!?
  • 23:30 – First Lite has a stretchy hunting jacket that totally doubles as maternity wear
  • 25:00 – Pregnancy cankles… you’re not too young to own some compression socks
  • 25:20 – Sockwell compression socks
  • 27:00 – All your organs get smushed around… and so when you have to go, you have to GO.
  • 35:00 – Bowhunting form and gun recoil 
  • 36:00 – Can babies hear shotgun sounds? Lead-free ammo, also a plus.
  • 39:00 – If your body’s asking for sleep, listen to it
  • 40:00 – Hunting while you’re pregnant definitely puts future generations of hunters and habitat on your mind… what a cool tradition to pass on.
  • 42:00 – Be sensible when you’re getting your hands into dead things
  • 46:00 – Baby cries = turkey hen yelps? We think so.
